Rawan Oudah

Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Damascus University, and at the International University for Science and Technology (IUST). Specialized in printmaking and graphic arts. Art instructor for children at Shaghf Art Club( Syria, Damascus). Her work combines technical research with visual exploration of line and texture, through a continuous process of transformation rather than as a fixed final outcome.

The works present in the 1st edition of art week Syria center on the concept of “becoming” as a continuous state of formation and transformation. Paper transforms into a surface that preserves the trace of fragility—here understood as a form of strength rather than its opposite—while texture becomes integral to the expressive structure, bearing the marks of creation, erasure, and change. The faces do not seek to represent a completed form; instead, they evoke a presence taking shape through layers of material, where memory intersects with the trace. Transformation becomes an ongoing visual act in which matter and time intertwine, revealing an identity that does not settle into a static image but remains in a state of perpetual becoming.
