Issa Kazah
Issa Kazah was born in Damascus in 1973 and graduated from the Department of Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Damascus University, in 1995. After three years as a graphic designer he founded Issa Kazah Art Studio in Damascus, where he has worked as a sculptor since 1997, and in 2014 received an award for best art sculpture. He has held solo exhibitions at Mama Souad Art Gallery (2006) and Kozah Art Gallery (2010) in Damascus, and at Beirut Art Week in 2015. His group exhibitions span more than two decades and include five editions of Beirut Art Fair, Art Bahrain Fair, Singapore Art Fair, EXPO 2016 in Damascus, and shows in Beirut, Dubai and Denmark. Most recently he took part in The Dawn at Atelier 14 in Dubai and The Khan in Damascus, both in 2025.
The works presented by Issa Kazah at Art week Syria offer a glimpse into his latest artistic project, one that reflects his vision of the relationship between humanity and inanimate objects — the lines and structures that shape modern life. In this series, he explores a complete interaction and integration between the human figure, architectural forms, and the broken or intertwined lines that define contemporary existence.
Kazah’s compositions create a delicate harmony between the rigid mass of the building and the soft, fragile presence of the human body. Through this contrast, he forms a unified and balanced visual language that mirrors the metaphorical space we inhabit. His work reveals how architecture and human emotion intersect, how the built environment both shapes and is shaped by the people who move through it.
Issa Kazah’s artistic practice is grounded in observing these subtle relationships and translating them into refined visual structures. His work invites viewers to contemplate the tension and balance between solidity and vulnerability, structure and life, ultimately presenting a poetic reflection on the human condition within the modern world.
